Key Problems and Trends in the Development of Modern Mass Media Education (Based on the Study of the Opinion of Representatives of the Media Community of the Ural Federal District)

Abstract

The article, based on the analysis of scientific works in the chosen direction (A. V. Fedorov, I. V. Zhilavskaya, E. A. Bondarenko, N. F. Khilko, I. A. Fateeva, etc.), gives a brief description of the main views on the essence and prospects of the development of Russian media education. The author of the article comes to the conclusion that currently there is no unity in the scientific community in understanding and interpretation of this aspect of the problem. In this regard, it is relevant to study the opinions of practicing journalists and students studying in the field of Journalism regarding those problematic issues that have formed within the media community, and those areas in which domestic media education should develop, taking into account the identified problems. About 200 people were interviewed (questionnaire method), a number of contradictions in the journalists' vision of the current situation in the media field were revealed, and the main directions for the formation of a holistic media personality were identified.
